Although he is flirtatious and often irritating/obnoxious in the eyes of the opposite sex, he is approachable and surprisingly, dependable. He values brotherhood and loyalty, and prefers working in a team to working solo. However, his mannerism towards his college mates, who dress poorly according to his standards, offends many. As a result, he does not have many chances to work with others or forge long-lasting relationships which he very much desires. He flaunts his wealth because he sees it as a way to gain followers, get others to respect him and hide his inferiority complex. He embraces modern living and has a liberal lifestyle but he deals with serious matters from a conservative/traditional point of view. He is also very particular about cleanliness and his diet.

He is the fifth child of a tycoon. His mother was the tycoon's maidservant when she married him as his third wife. Shortly after their wedding, many strange, unfortunate events befell the family. Thus, Rodrick's mother was often accused to be a jinx in the family. A year later, Rodrick was born and his father had died at the same time. Believed to be jinxed too and the irrational conclusion of him being the ultimate cause of the tycoon's death, his mother and he suffered thereafter. When Rodrick turned 17, his mother sent him away to the Academy of Heroes with the money she had inherited from the tycoon's death before she had hung herself in the backyard.
